It was my birthday on Thursday, and when we woke up my wife told me she'd forgotten to buy me anything . So close to Christmas and all that (We've only been married 32 years!). Anyway she asked me what I wanted, I jokingly said a new small bandsaw to replace my old 10" one. So off we toddle up the road to Axminster (still hadn't told her how much they cost ) The result is she bought me one!

Delivered Friday, and it's now up and running. It's an 80kg, 13" with a 7" capacity which is plenty enough for the small jobs, I've got a 20" for re-sawing, and I'm pleased as punch with it, very quite, very smooth. excellent machine.

Colin

Wonder what she'll want for her birthday!

Congratulations on the bandsaw and Happy Birthday Colin !

It's always great when your significant other not only agrees with you and also is willing to foot the bill.

Hesh, you don't seem to have this Birthday thing sorted out right. On Lacey's Birthday, she doesn't by you something, you buy something for her. OK?

So get down to Woodcraft and buy her a new Bandsaw

Colin

Happy birthday, Colin. Sounds like you have things under control.    BTW, I've been married for 33 years.

Happy Birthday Colin. I'm on the phone with Wood Crafter's finding out their return policy on bandsaws. Anyone have any idea who I call for the return policy on Hesh?

Happy Birthday Colin! Wishing you much Mahogany!

Lacey, I'm afraid there's a no-returns policy on Hesh's from most wood woodworking stores. Sorry 'bout that.

Happy Birthday Colin! I'm glad you got exactly what you wanted. You didn't have to use my line from my last birthday. "Oh, Sweetie. You shouldn't have. No, really, you shouldn't have."

Ha! Sometimes guilt can work in your favor.    I think she'll be expecting new kitchen cabinets for her birthday, considering.

Happy Birthday Colin,

What a great prezzie, just the shot to test out the K-Sled Don't forget to post some pics now.

Many happy returns mate.

Sorry Lacey, (almost forgot ),

Many happy returns to you as well. As for the return policy on Hesh? Sorry but I think you would need to produce the original receipt and maybe even the original packaging. But even then I don't like your chances as it is not normal policy for the Pro-Rata to extend past the use-by date.

Having said that however, should you get lucky and manage to find the original receipt, you may well attract very good dollar for it from an antique dealership

Aaagghh bugger! Now I've gone and put myself out of the running for that beautiful Heshtone Guitar giveaway ...sorry bout that Hesh ol'buddie, you look very young for your age...realy and I am normally so very nice...the devil made me do it

Cheers All

Nappy belated B-day Colin and Lacey!

Colin, by marrying this woman, i understand better why John How says that you're a very wise man!

Hesh, you should imitate Colin and finally by Lacey her Ring! Well, after 32 years of marriage, you'd surely get a bandsaw, at least!

I should put in here that I still have lots of Brownie points left. Some years ago, when we were much poorer, I bought her a $20,000 violin for her birthday, the additional bow cost more than a custom guitar! But she was playing in the LSO at the time.

She is the real musician in the family.

My first house only cost $16,000. Seriously.

And it's the right color too!
It matches your belt sander nicely.
Happy "B" day and Happy new year Colin!
All the best,

Colin...if I were in your shoes, I would feel like a court jester in the midst of such musical royalty! A mere guitar player and maker must seem like an amusing diversion for Lady S.!

"Here, my little clown...go buy yourself a little toy...bandsaw, is it called"

Happy Birthday and Happy New Year my friend! Remember, you occupy an exhalted place in the company of your fellow OLF woodpeckers!

I'm gradually acquiring musical cred, now that I play Lute in concert, and am learning classical from RCM's Charles Ramirez, I'm sometimes allowed in the house! Actually my wife, even while playing in the LSO, played fiddle with our traditional English folk group, and still plays with me now, she is also one of the few remaining Northumbrian pipe players (a smaller sweeter type of bagpipe, more like a small set of Irish pipes).

I consider her main claim to fame being that she is probably the only person in the world to have ever played a full-on Western Isles Jig on a Stradivarius. My good friend David Hume of the RCM (where she studied) let her play the Liotti Strad recently.

Lacey what did you get from Walmart in return for Hesh? A nice set of golf clubs would be a fair deal.

Colin
